MUSCLE RECOVERY | PERFORMANCE

Optimal performance is achieved when the body attains homeostasis; a state of equilibrium. Optimal magnesium may help achieve; restoring tissue damage, hormone regulation, increased muscle contractions, increased circulation, increased antioxidants, alkalizing the body, increased bone density and calming the nervous system.

ENERGY PRODUCTION

Magnesium plays a crucial role in the synthesis of ATP (adeno-tri-phosphate) which is the body’s energy currency. Low levels of magnesium reduces the amount of energy molecules produced leaving  you to feeling fatigued and exhausted.

MUSCLE CRAMPS | SPASMS

Cramping or spasms occur when there is  low levels of magnesium inside the cell. The roll of magnesium is to relax the muscles. Calcium inside the cell helps the muscle to contract. If these two minerals are not balanced  it can cause severe and prolonged muscle contractions causing chronic tension leading to cramping.

JOINT PAIN | INFLAMMATION

Initial inflammation can promote healing but if uncontrolled or prolonged  it can become harmful. Magnesium helps control cellular events involved in inflammation to ensure inflammation is not prolonged. Chronic inflammatory conditions are attacks against healthy cells of the joints, nerve and connective tissues. Adequate levels of with magnesium inside the cells may help prevent chronic inflammation.

Clinical Symptoms

STRESS | ANXIETY

When stressed; our body release high concentrations of cortisol. Excess cortisol levels contributes to anxiety, depression, memory and concentration issues.  Magnesium levels significantly drop when we are stressed or anxious due to the physical and mental tax on our body and mind.  Inside the cell magnesium's role is to restrict excess cortisol released, so by increasing magnesium levels we my be able to decrease anxiety and stress.

BONE HEALTH

Optimal bone health requires adequate levels of magnesium, calcium, vitamin D.
Magnesium is essential for calcium to be absorbed and it stimulates the thyroid to release calcitonin - a bone preservation hormone. Vitamin D relies heavily on magnesium to be converted into its active form to be absorbed. Without these three minerals, osteoporosis  and kidney stone formations can occur.

HEADACHES

Migraines and headaches can cause unpleasant symptoms such as severe headache, visual disturbances, sensitivity to light and sound, and nausea and vomiting. Magnesium inside the cell may have an effect on receptors that are an active contributor to pain transmission during headaches.

SLEEP HYGIENE

Many research studios have found magnesium can be used to help calm the mind.  An individual with low magnesium may have trouble falling as well as staying asleep during the night causing fatigue and tiredness.
There are three factors crucial for sleep quality that rely on adequate magnesium levels. These are gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors, serotonin and NMDA.

Skin & Health

PMS SYMPTOMS

During a cycle estrogen and progesterone levels are elevated which causes a significant decrease magnesium levels. Replacing the depleted magnesium levels lost during a cycle can help with PMS symptoms of bloating, cramps, headaches and irritability. Magnesium deficiency can be an underlying cause that  aggravates PMS symptoms.

INFLAMED SKIN

Low magnesium levels may result in increased histamine levels and a rise in stress; both significant triggers for inflammation. Inflammation can cause a buildup of dried, dead skin cells on the surface.  With gentle exfoliation, increased hydration and a warm bath this may help calm ithcy skin.

BLEMISHES

Even skin tone may be achieved by increasing  hydration and decreasing any inflammatory  By reducing levels of inflammation this can help reduce the severity of acne/skin break outs and blemishes.

CIRCULATION

Magnesium is alkaline which helps balance the body's pH levels. Current lifestyle trends tend to cause the body to be more acidic such as; foods, preservative, sugars, environment pollution and sweat.
